Let's keep the goal in sight

Today I happened to listen to talk radio while in my car. First, I heard Rush excoriating Mike Castle and the Republican "establishment" that Rush says supports Castle. Later I heard Mark Levin talking about the need to get rid of the "entrenched" powers in both parties. Levin was speaking in support of Christine O'Donnell in the Delaware primary. More such commentaries are floating around the web and in the blogosphere. I want to scream ENOUGH!!!!!

The goal in November is not to form a perfect Republican party. It is not to have an inquisition to oust all those who are not of the true faith. The goal in November is to stop the ongoing destruction of America tha has been pushed forward by Obama and the Obamacrats. It does not matter is those fighting in the trenches next to us are pro-choice or pro-life. It does not matter if our fellow combatants want interstate healthcare competition or not. It does not matter whether these folks believe that global warming is real or that it is a massive hoax. all that matters is that they are with us in the big fight. American liberty can no longer be taken by the federal government. The USA can no longer spend what it does not have. the federal government cannot regulate ever larger portions of life in this country; indeed, the most recent regulations must be rolled back. Something must be done to put social security and medicare on a sound footing for the future. We have to get control of our borders. We have to stand as a beacon of liberty for all in the world, a steadfast guarantor of freedom for all Americans against all foreign threats. We have to stand with our allies who subscribe to the same basic beliefs that we do. In short, we need a return to sanity in the government.

There will be clear differences among those who fight with regard to how to accomplish all of these tasks. So what! We can make those determinations as to what to do through rational discussion once the crazies who are now in charge have been vanquished. The infighting on display has just got to stop.

I know that Limbaugh and Levin like to stir the pot. It is good for their ratings. But it is not good for the country that they say they are trying to save.

Ronald Reagan famously had an 11th Commandment which read "thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican". That was not because REagan liked all of the other Republicans (although with Reagan he could convince you that he truly did like them.) The reason for the commandment was and is because REagan knew that before one can make the changes needed in the country, one has to win power. The way to do that is not by fighting with those on your side. Churchill was stridently anti-communist, but he fought together iwth the Soviet Union in order to defeat the Nazi menace. It was necessary, and it was what was done.

I call upon all conservatives and Republicans to stop sniping at each other. Let's work hard to defeat Obama and his crony Obamacrats and drive them from power. Let's make sure that there are no more 2500 page bills passed in two hours in the dead of night. Let's make sure that adults, not escapees from the asylum run the country. In short, if you do not have something nice to say about your fellow conservative, don't say anything at all.
