The Party of the Rich

Yesterday evening, President obama came to my hometown, Greenwich, Connecticut. He made no speech or any other sort of appearance; he just came for the money. In a move that no one would believe if it were in fiction, Obama went to dinner at the home of a family named "Richman". It was a twelve acre estate in the ritzy Conyers farm section of Greenwich. My guess is that the home is valued at something in the area of $20 million. The Richman family and their neighbors did not get subprime mortgages in the last decade. My guess is that more than a few of the neighbors were actually pushing those subprime mortgages. The people who attanded the dinner party each made a contribution of more than $30,000 in order to get to break bread with Obama. These were the little folk, the common men who Obama says he represents. Jane Pauley was there (I guess her frequent appearances on NBC's Today show are not a problem -- so much for media fairness). Others in attendance included all sorts of Wall Street moguls and show biz types. All those poor people that Obama trots out when he gives speeches were not allowed in. they are fine as props, but would he want to have dinner with them? Please!

The truth is that the long standing hoax of the Democrats is that they represent the interests of the poor. The truth is that they represent the interests of those entrenched in the government and government related groups. There is a good reason why the vast majority of government employees vote for the Democrats. The same is true of the education establishment. All those professors who depend on government grants vote for their pocketbooks as well. So do the rich trial lawyers who want to be able to continue to shake down American businesses with frivolous lawsuits. In short, the Democrats do not represent the poor. They do not even act to help the poor. They act to help themselves.
