It is not often that one can identify a moment when a historical result becomes clear. Today, however, we got to see such an event. Today, former president Jimmy Carter criticized president Obama's policy in the Middle East as being two weak, unfocused and changeable. The report on Carter's comments is here.
So Obama has now lost the support of the former president who personifies a weak American foreign policy. In many ways, this criticism by Carter is like having a vegetarian food critic write a review of a steak house. Nevertheless, for a Democrat like Carter to make these remarks is extraordinary. It marks the moment when all Democrats become free to slam Obama for his policies. The Democrats have now recognized that there is no constituency in American that supports Obama's policies; there are only people who like and support Obama despite his policies.
It is truly a sad day for Obama, but a great day for America.
