Today's Big Poll

This evening Fox News released its latest polls in a variety of senate races across the country.  In my opinion, the biggest poll of the day comes from Kansas.  It shows Republican senator Pat Roberts ahead of his "Independent" challenger by five percent 44 to 39%.  Until today, most recent polls have shown the challenger ahead although the lead was shrinking.

It always seemed clear to me that the supposed Independent in Kansas was going to start falling apart once the folks in that state realized that he was nothing more than a recycled Democrat who was going to be another foot soldier in Harry Reid's army.  With Obama's approval numbers extremely low in Kansas, the last thing that voters there will want is a senator to vote with Obama.  Nevertheless, once the DNC got the Democrat candidate to pull out of the race in favor of the independent, the media has played up Kansas as a big opportunity for the Democrats.  If the numbers in the latest poll are anywhere near accurate, however, that opportunity is quickly disappearing and the GOP is pulling ahead in this race.
