Why the Surprise

The Washington Post is reporting today that despite all manner of denials at the time, there was White House involvement in the scandal that erupted when Secret Service personnel brought prostitutes back to their hotel rooms when they were in Colombia in the months prior to the 2012 election.  According to the Post report, there was a member of the White House staff who also had a prostitute "visit" him.  While this was reported back to the White House counsel who was "investigating", the fact was never mentioned to the public.  In fact, the entire report on the prostitute scandal was intentionally hushed up until after the election according to the Post report.

Some of the details of the report are too funny to miss.  First of all, the guy from the White House who was involved with the prostitutes according to the Post report is now assigned to work on "women's issues" at the State Department.  Maybe he was just doing field research to prepare for his new position.  Maybe he was doing research on new positions and it had nothing to do with any potential job.

In any event, the Post seems surprised that this mess was covered up and the truth was kept from the American people for political reasons.  Are they kidding?  We have just spent six years of cover ups and lies coming from the White House.  My guess is that if asked about the scandal, Obama would have said that "if you like your prostitute, you can keep your prostitute, period."
