Biden Trying To Make Obama Look Good

In the last two days, vice president Biden has been forced to call the president of Turkey and the head of the government of the United Arab Emirates to apologize for statements that those two nations had supported terrorists operating in Syria.  It was a sorry performance that began with Biden telling an audience on Wednesday that both countries had helped the opponents of Assad in Syria and that the help had included aid to groups like al Nusra and al Qaeda.  The result of the statement by Biden was outrage from Turkey and the UAE.  Biden had managed with one statement to place into jeopardy the American relationship with both countries.

So what really happened here?  Did Turkey and the UAE arm al Qaeda forces in Syria so that they could fight Assad?  And if they did, why is Biden apologizing?  On the other hand, if Turkey and the UAE did not arm the terrorists, then how could Biden claim the opposite?  Biden has made such a mess of policy here, that I can only think of one possible explanation for what happened (other than gross incompetence.)  I believe that Biden was trying to make Obama and his fourth rate policy in the Middle East look good by comparison.  No one, not even Joe Biden, could be that stupid.
