This morning I came across three articles explaining why it would be bad for the Republican party if it were to win control of the Senate in the upcoming election. All three articles were written by liberal commentators at liberal media outlets. It is not worth discussing the content of the pieces; they were based on distorted views of reality. What is more interesting is that these articles are signs of panic on the left that the election is moving away from the Democrats and towards the Republicans. We have now gotten to the point where the liberals are assuring each other that they really are going to win by losing control of the Senate. After all, that result will be bad for the conservative Republicans. Right?
I think it is safe to say that no one in his or her right mind would conclude that winning an election is a bad result. If the Republicans pick up six seats in the Senate, it would be a very large swing towards the GOP by historic standards. It would require at multiple sitting Democrat senators to lose, again a rare event in the last 80 years. In other words, it would require a revolt across America against the sort of ultra-left policies that the Democrats have pushed for the last eight years while they have controlled the Senate.
Hopefully, two years from now we will be seeing a slew of articles in the same liberal outlets explaining why Republicans will really be losing by winning the presidency along with both houses of Congress.
