There are two statistics that need to be discussed from some recent polls. In one recent national poll, 64% of the registered voters questioned said that they do not consider Hillary Clinton honest or trustworthy. That is a commonly found statistic with somewhere between 60 and 66% taking that view in poll after poll. Here's a new one, however. In the latest Fox poll from a few days ago, 66% of the people polled believe that Hillary Clinton was selling influence through the Clinton Foundation while she was secretary of state.
Think about that. Two-thirds of those polled think Hillary is dishonest and corrupt. TWO THIRDS!!!! Since Clinton gets the votes of roughly 41-45 percent of the voters in the recent polls, that means that there are almost ten percent of voters who think Hillary is dishonest and corrupt but they are voting for her anyway. It's disgusting.
The president of the United States ought to be an honorable and honest person who obeys the law. That's not a trivial point. I understand that there are times when a candidate stretches the truth; that inevitable. If you think that a candidate is dishonest and corrupt, however, I don't see how you can vote for that person. You can disagree with particular policies put forth by one candidate and still select that candidate on election day. You can worry about how well a particular candidate will do in office and still select that candidate on election day as well. It's just wrong, however, to decide that someone is dishonest and corrupt and then to vote to put that person in power.
These statistics say more about the voting public than the candidate. It just shouldn't be this way.
