A New Murphy's Law

There is an old adage called "Murphy's Law".  It says that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.  There really should be a new version of Murphy's law, however.  This one would refer specifically to Connecticut's junior senator Chris Murphy.  For senator Murphy, the new law should be this:  "Pay no attention to the truth when politics is involved."

I realized just how often Murphy strays from the truth and goes instead for intentionally misleading statements when I read one of his latest tweets.  Murphy tweeted about the hearings on the nomination for Betsy DeVos to be Secretary of Education as follows:  "Tonight #BetsyDeVos would not oppose putting guns in our schools. I was shaken to the core by her answer. So should every American parent."

That sounds pretty bad, doesn't it?  Betsy Devos is okay with guns in schools!  But, of course, that is not what she said; it's just a lie by senator Murphy.  DeVos was asked about guns in schools, and she said that it was an issue that she thought best left to states and localities.  But here's the clincher:  the question was not about students carrying guns; it was about having armed security guards in schools.  Senator Murphy makes it sound like DeVos was okay with armed students fighting it out with guns in the school yard.  Actually, she said that the issue of armed security guards to stop violence in the schools was one best left to localities and states.

Senator Murphy is a disgrace.
