Here's my only prediction for 2017:
The exit of president Obama from the White House will usher in an era of hope and change.
The new President Trump will bring back hope that the American economy will finally get moving and growing again. Families that have seen their wages stagnate for over a decade will finally be able to hope for raises. Workers who have watched Obama work against job growth for his entire eight years will be able to hope that Washington will now be more concerned with creating jobs than with political correctness or fealty to an ideology that considers business a bad thing. People who have watched their health insurance premiums soar uncontrollably as Obamacare has been implemented will finally be able to hope that the endless drain of healthcare costs will be lessened. America's allies who have come to expect no support from Washington will now be able to hope that the new president will care more about allies than about enemies. The entire world will be able to hope that we finally have a leader who cares more about deeds than words and who does not see the entire universe as being about him.
Change will also surely come. America will recognize who it is that we are fighting in the war against terrorism. Economic growth will be a goal, not an afterthought. Taxes will be restructured to promote growth of the private economy rather than to pay for a bloated and incompetent government. Education will be restructured to benefit the children rather than the teachers' unions. Science will prevail over quasi-religious belief when it comes to the environment and the global climate. The American military will once again focus on defense and success in battle rather than on social issues like transgender soldiers. The immigration laws will actually be enforced. There's more, but you get the picture.
Obama ran as the candidate of hope and change. Trump will be the president who actually brings hope and change. It's a good thought with which to start the new year.
