It's the ultimate irony. We went for years hearing about how exclusionary the Republicans are. The liberals and the Democrats told us over and over that the GOP and its voters were racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic and you-name-it-phobic. How many stories did we read about the horror of a pizza shop in the Midwest that was refusing to cater a gay wedding? How many bakeries were criticized and threatened with ruin if they wouldn't bake a wedding cake with two grooms on top of it? How terrible was the state of North Carolina and how many conferences and events were cancelled because the legislature tried to limit bathroom use to people who physically were of the same sex?
Now we are about to see president Trump take office. These same people who endlessly preached acceptance and inclusion are now going all out for exclusion. I just saw a headline that asked if American designers should "dress" Melania Trump. Get that? It's terrible for a baker to refuse to make a cake for a gay wedding because of the baker's religious views on the subject, but it's acceptable -- supposedly -- for a designer to refuse to provide a dress to the First Lady because of the designer's political views. What happens if a designer refuses to make dresses for a lesbian same sex wedding? Does the old or the new outrage apply? Is it okay to act out one's political views or not? For liberals, it seems that the answer is that acting out one's political views is okay only if those views are liberal themselves.
The current reality is that the left and the Democrats are doing exactly what they said that the Republicans and Trump were going to do. Hillary and her people practically fainted when Trump said he wanted to see the outcome of the election before saying he would accept it. It was a threat to our democracy was the then message of the Democrats. Now we had the election and they lost, so they refuse to accept the outcome.
I find this childish temper tantrum from the left most annoying. They don't seem to realize just how bad it makes them all look. As time goes by, the Dems just look worse and worse. They already lost in 2016, now they seem to be going for a bigger loss in 2018 and 2020. It's the ultimate irony.
