Here's a picture worth viewing:
It's the mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico making a statement about the "inadequate" response by the federal government to the hurricane that hit the island. It's more than that, however. It's also a picture of many of the pallets of aid that have been unloaded in Puerto Rico sent by the federal government since the storm. There are other views of the aid which show literally thousands of containers filled with food, clothing, water and the like sitting next to the dock in San Juan. It's bizarre to see the mayor be so tone deaf that she would stand in front of a huge amount of aid delivered by the federal government only to state that there is no meaningful aid.
The reality is that, as has been the case for more than a week, there is a huge wave of aid that keeps arriving in Puerto Rico. I comes in by ship and then has to be distributed by truck. There has been a bottleneck because there have not been enough truck drivers to make the deliveries. Remember, the main responsibility for delivering the aid has been with the local government. Translation: the mayor has failed to get the supplies distributed to her city's residents so she is now blaming the feds. It's really strange.
My guess is that next time the mayor decides to complain, she will find somewhere to stand that's not in front of all that aid.
