The response to Hurricane Harvey in Texas and parts of Louisiana has been extraordinary. We're used to seeing chaos and devastation in the aftermath of one of these storms. This time, the devastation is worse, but the rescue and relief efforts are organized and coordinated. Sure, the situation for many of those who have been hit by the storm is dire; many have lost everything. Nevertheless, there really are no people who can complain to being ignored or overlooked. There seems to have been an enormous effort by the local people and all levels of government working together to get the relief system up and running.
No one should think that the coming months will be easy; they won't. The local residents deserve recognition for their can do attitudes which began the rescue/relief efforts without waiting for someone from Washington to show up to direct. The governor of Texas has been seemingly everywhere. The mayor of Houston and the county judge are also worthy of mention. Then there's the federal effort being pushed by President Trump and the many members of the cabinet who have been down in Texas organizing their own pieces of the effort.
There's no doubt that the media is not going to say much about the great job by the Trump administration. America should be aware of it, however.
