In the Jerusalem Post today, the following report appeared: "In a morbid show of bravado, Iran has dug mass graves for US troops should the United States decide to implement Adm. Mike Mullen's contingency plan to strike Iran, a former commander of the Revolutionary Guard said." The article goes on to describe how the Iranians have prepared graves for the US servicemen who would be killed in any attack against the nuclear sites.
What a show of lunacy. First, any attack by the US would necessarily be from the air. There would be no need for mass graves since there would not be mass casualties. The Iranians know this, but they have opted for the theatrical approach instead. Second, the likely result of a US attack would be massive Iranian casualties, but the government in Iran cannot admit this. Thus, they say that the graves are for US personnel. Third, the only sane response to the statement by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs would be to talk to Washington about how to defuse the situation. such a sane view would never even occur to the Iranians.
Hopefully, we will not get to the point of watching the graves get filled with either Iranians or anyone else.
