This morning there is an article by Charles Babbington of the AP about Nancy Pelosi highlighted on Drudge. In the article, Babbington writes of campaigning by Nancy Pelosi around the country and of her fund raising abilities. He also discusses whether or not she is a liability for the Democrats. It was on this point that his bias spewed forth. He pointed out that by a margin of five to one, the American people have negative feeling about Pelosi, but he then went on to make a big point that nearly a third of those polled had no opinion or were not sure. Translating this into numbers it means that 66% had opinions and in that group the 5 to 1 split breaks down at about 55-11. In other words fully 55% of the American people dislike Pelosi and disapprove of her. The AP, however, could not bring itself to report that a large majority of Americans disapprove of Pelosi, the darling of the AP and other main stream media.
It reminds me of a bumber sticker that one saw back in 1965. Right after Lyndon Johnson crushed Barry Goldwater in the election of 1964, a sticker popped up saying something like "28 million Americans are not wrong". Maybe after November, the AP will run a story saying "Pelosi and Democrats win big among 44% of Americans". why mention the other 56% that voted the other way?
