Perhaps the silliest comment of the day from President Obama came when he told the crowd in Ohio that the US economy and business in particular had done just fine before the Bush tax cuts which showed that ending those tax cuts would not have an adverse effect on the economy. Supposedly, Obama is a very bright individual, but this argument is just stupid. Imagine what people would say if Obama came forward and told us that the US economy did just fine before the computer. After all, the US was the largest economy in the world at the end of Worl War 2 by far without the benefit of computers. As a result, if the government were to take all computers away from the people, they would do just fine.
In essence, this computer argument is the same as Obama's tax argument. the issue is not what worked ten or fifty years ago. The issue is what will work now. I an of the opinion that Obama does know this and is just using this faulty argument since he assumes that most Americans are too stupid to see through his sophistry. I cannot decide if it is worse that the president thinks that the people are stupid or if the president himself is so out of it that he does not see the fault with the logic he is putting forth.
