Well it did not take long for the Liberal media to do their part to try to help the Democrats make the economy look good. After Obama gave a speech in Wisconsin today calling for a $50 billion expenditure for infrastructure improvements, the AP unveiled a piece headline Obama's "huge" new jobs program. What a joke. If fifty billion dollars is huge, what was 800 billion dollars in the first stimulus plan? The truth is that fifty billion bucks is about 0.3% of GDP, and it will be spread over quite some time. Indeed, no jobs can be expected from the plan until next spring even if it is passed immediately, but AP calls it a huge new jobs program.
Strangely, the main issue between the Democrats and Republicans on this plan deals with the way to pay for it. Obama wants a big batch of new taxes which will undo any good that the stimulus creates. The Republicans want the cost to come from all the funds left over from the first stimulus. It makes sense. Congress passes an eight hundred billion dollar stimulus but the president doesn't spend it all. Now Obama wants more money. Why not spend the money he already has. there is no need for new taxes that will hurt the economy. Just spend the money already allocated.
The sad truth is that this is nothing but a political stunt by Obama to try to make it look like he actually cares about the economy. Sadly, most people realize by now that he could not care less about the economy and mainstream America. They will not fall for this dog and pony show.
