Donate $9 for Client 9

I did a double take this morning when I saw the headlines announcing that Client number 9, also known as Elliot Spitzer, is going to run for office in New York state again.  Spitzer had to resign as governor a few years back when it was disclosed that he was using state funds to travel to Washington to "visit" high priced hookers in that city.  An indictment which later followed labeled him "client number 9" of the agency that supplied the hookers.

It got me to thinking about all the fund raising methods that get used by politicians.  You know, contribute $3 for a chance to have dinner with president Obama or contribute $5 for a chance to win a day on the Romney campaign tour.  Spitzer has a natural one:  "Contribute $9 for a chance to sleep with client 9".  He wouldn't get many contributions, but he sure would get a lot of coverage.  And why not?  He is already the guy who cheated on his wife with hookers, who was described as liking to wear black socks during sex, and as taking state funds to finance his trips to the prostitutes.  It wouldn't hurt his reputation; that is already gone.

One last note about this piece of scum:  he is running for Comptroller of New York City.  That is the guy who is in charge of making sure that city finances are being properly handled.  So the guy who knowingly misused state funds wants the key to the cookie jar.  Does he have a plan to open a string of brothels?
