More Chaos in Syria

When we last looked, Syria was in the midst of a terrible civil war between the Assad forces and their Iranian, Hezbollah and Russian allies on the one side and the Sunni rebels with their Saudi, Turkish and other allies on the other side.  Iran and Hezbollah actually have troops fighting in Syria, so it really is no longer a civil war.  So far, over 110,000 people have been killed, many more have been wounded and millions are homeless or refugees.

Today, however, comes more news that makes things in Syria worse.  That may seem hard to imagine, but it is true nevertheless.  The Free Syria Army (known as the FSA) announced that one of its senior leaders was assassinated by another Sunni group known as the Islamic State, a strident Islamicist affiliated with al Qaeda and its Syria arm al Nusra.  The FSA said that it considered the assassination a declaration of war and that it would wipe the floor with the terrorist group.

Oh Yippee!  It wasn't bad enough to have two groups fighting each other in Syria.  Now we have at least three.  That means that there are more folks who will be killed, maimed and made homeless.  So all these deaths are coming and, for the most part, it is because of disagreements regarding the true nature of the "religion of peace."

Why don't they just change the name from Syria to Somalia and give up.
