In yet another bit of obstruction, the Senate Democrats filibustered the Defense Spending bill yesterday. This bill would fund the armed forces for the year. Money funding the military will run out at the end of the month without the passage of this bill.
So why are they doing this? There's nothing controversial in the funding bill. In fact, when the bill was in committee, it passed unanimously. In other words, nine Democrats who are now filibustering the bill voted for it in committee. They were for it before they were against it. The problem, however, is that the Democrats don't want to fund anything with a full spending measure. They want to just have temporary funding so that they can cut military spending further next year should Hillary win and the Democrats get control of Congress. The Democrats are literally playing with the lives of our armed forces just for their own political purposes.
