The Senate Democrats Block Zika Funding

Once again, the Democrats in the Senate filibustered a bill that funded research and prevention costs in the fight against the Zika virus.  It's an amazing spectacle.  Both the House and Senate passed Zika bills earlier this year.  A conference committee worked out a final plan and it has passed the House.  Only Senate passage standing in the way of funding 1.1 billion dollars for the Zika crisis.  Twice now, Democrats have blocked passage of the bill.

So why is this happening?  The answer is that the current bill contains language that blocks the use of the money in the bill from funding Planned Parenthood. The abortion services provider already gets hundreds of millions of dollars of federal money; that remains unaffected.  This bill just says that Planned Parenthood cannot get any of this additional funding directed at Zika.  Because of the strident support of the Democrats for abortion and Planned Parenthood, they won't pass the bill.  Think about that for a moment.  Zika is in Florida and Puerto Rico and is likely spreading elsewhere.  Congress wants to act to fund a defense against the virus.  Senate Democrats, however, are so beholden to the abortion above all else crowd that they won't let that money get spent.

It's a disgrace, an absolute disgrace!
