Liberal Despair Tomasky style

Writing in his blog at the Guardian out of the UK, Michael Tomasky outlines why liberals are both surprised and despairing. As he puts it in his salient comment: "So I don't think Obama is blameless here. But whatever the reason, we are where we are. I did not expect to see this much hatred, this depth of conviction that the president of the United States is an enemy of his own country, this intensity of bigotry directed at American Muslims, this degree of belief in obvious and poisonous lies.

And it's not isolated. At all. About 30% of Americans call themselves tea-party supporters. Given that the tea party movement is almost all white, and that the country is about 70% white, this means that around 43% of white Americans subscribe to this basic view. That's nearly half."

So there you have it. According to Tomasky, half of all whites in the USA are filled with hate and bigotry and credulous enough to believe obvious and poisonous lies.

There is a word for statements like Tomasky's and it is not "despairing". Rather, the correct word is the most poinited one: Bullshit!

This self appointed guardian of the "truth" uses sophistry to brand all members of the tea parties as bigots when there is not a scintilla of evidence that they are. this rajah of rectitude knows that almost half of white America believes poisonous lies, but he fails to even identify those lies for us. The real truth is that those lies do not exist; they are the brainchild of liberals who are looking for reasons why ordinary people do not like Obama and his programs. The liberals cannot fathom that ordinary people have opinions of their own which are not generated by the liberal media or the liberal "experts" who believe that they are the only ones who can make decisions for the USA. For Tomasky, democracy and free speech are poisonous lies that must be stamped out.

In truth, it is Tomasky and his ilk who are the high moguls of half truths. Actually, that is inaccurate; they do not use half truths. They are the purveyors of out and out slanders and calumnies. Calling the people of the United States angry bigots, while a favorite tactic of true liberals (remember those bitter clingers?), is nothing but a lie. Indeed, it is a time honored liberal tactic used to push non-liberals back from opposing liberal hegemony. The problem for liberals now, however, is that their tactic no longer works. Tomasky can call any one he wants a racist, bigot or the like. Everyone knows now that the statement is just plain untrue.
