Michael Scherer writing in Time asks when Obama became Mr. Unpopular. The article is truly astounding. Scherer is one of the founders of the admiration society that encompassed nearly the entire media for the last two years. That Scherer could even consider that Obama has become someone who the majority of the population strongly dislike is shocking. In many respects, it is comparable to cardinals criticizing the pope -- it just is not done.
The truth, however, is that the media finally seems to be recognizing that the bulk of Americans no longer trust or like Obama. Now we will see an avalanche of stories on this topic. Then, in October, we will be treated to the new story line about how Obama has managed, almost miraculously, to bring many people back to his side. My guess is that the American people no longer care much what writers like Scherer say. These October stories will not change much. Only a true change of heart by obama could accomplish that.
