Chris Murphy is the junior senator from Connecticut. He is also someone who talks non-stop about gun control. If you follow his Twitter feed, it's basically "we need gun control; I went to a pancake breakfast; we need gun control; I rode on a bus in Bridgeport; we need gun control....." I don't know for certain, but my prediction is that Murphy named at least one of his kids "gun control". Last week, Murphy pulled a stunt in which he held a roughly ten hour filibuster in the Senate on a day when no votes were scheduled. He talked and talked and talked, but he held nothing up. It was a filibuster for show.
Well, today we learned just how much Murphy actually supports gun control measures. There were four votes taken in the Senate on gun control measures. One was offered by Murphy himself; it failed badly. Of the other three, one came from Democrat Dianne Feinstein but two were offered by Republicans. All three of the other measures, however, were the so called "common sense" gun measures that Murphy claims to favor. So how did Murphy vote? He voted for Feinstein's bill but he voted against the two measures offered by Republicans.
It's important to point this out. Senator Murphy is not prepared to vote for a measure that would have barred some on the terror watch list from getting guns, and the only reason for Murphy's position is that the bill was offered by a Republican. The reality is that Murphy's entire anti-gun crusade is just a bogus charade, a posture Murphy adopted for political purposes. Murphy should be ashamed of himself.
