I wrote earlier about the "sit-in" by House Democrats. It just keeps getting more and more bizarre. Let's start with the obvious. The House is not in session. The supposed sit-in is not stopping anything. It is just a stunt to try to get attention.
Second, this is an anti-civil rights sit-in. In the 1960s, there were sit-ins to try to get civil rights for all Americans. The goal of this sit-in is to take away the right of gun ownership from most Americans. It seems perverse. What's next? Will the Democrats bring back rioting in order to promote some measure to end freedom of religion? Will we have a die-in in favor of government censorship of speech? (For those who do not remember, a "die-in" involved people laying on the floor as if they were dead; nobody actually dies.)
Third, the Senate just voted down all of the gun control measures that were proposed. One of the measures rejected (the Grassley bill) was defeated with the votes of nearly every Democrat. If the Democrats were even slightly interested in actually getting some common sense gun control measures passed, they would have voted FOR and not AGAINST that measure.
Oh well. At least Congress will recess soon for the conventions and the summer. Maybe if we are lucky, all these congressmen will stay seated on the floor of the House during that six week recess. At least it will keep them out of trouble.
