Let's go back again to what it means to be "on the wrong side of history". That is one of president Obama's favorite phrases. When he wants to push a viewpoint or a policy which is controversial, Obama often says that the other side is on the wrong side of history. But there's a big question today that has to be addressed.
Is taking common sense steps to protect the American people from radical Islamic terrorists something that is on the wrong side of history?
It's a question that is well worth pondering. Obama made clear in his rant today that he thinks the answer to the question is YES. After all, Obama nearly went berserk in discussing Trump's plan for a temporary ban on Moslems entering the USA until we can get a handle on the actual identity of the people being admitted. As Trump points out, we know that some, perhaps many of the self proclaimed refugees who seek admission to this country from Syria or other Middle Eastern countries are ISIS terrorists. Indeed, ISIS itself has told us that this is so. Trump says that until we can find a way to determine which of these refugees are ISIS in disguise, we cannot let any of them in. Obama thinks that this is an unacceptable policy. In Obama's view, we have to let in refugees even if some of them are ISIS terrorists. Hillary Clinton agrees with Obama. They think that if the ISIS plants among the refugees kill a few hundred or thousand Americans, it is a price we must pay to be on the right side of history.
I am fairly certain that a big majority of America agrees with Trump. We simply cannot have our government take steps that needlessly exposes Americans across the country to murder in a terrorist attack. Obama and Hillary who are safe behind the protection of the Secret Service may not care about keeping ordinary Americans alive, but Trump gets it. See, it's not that Obama/Clinton want to modify Trump's plan by modifying a few of its points; they don't want any part of it. They don't want to keep self proclaimed refugees out of the country even if we have no way of knowing who these people are. It's like playing Russian roulette with the lives of average Americans.
It's interesting to see the media jumping onto the bandwagon with Obama and Clinton. The Washington Post and New York Times practically had a breakdown rushing to join Obama in condemning Trump's plans to protect ordinary Americans. Other mainstream media outlets joined in as well. The truth, however, is that Obama, Clinton and all these media folks are on the wrong side of the American people. Americans understand common sense. People are being murdered by ISIS terrorists all across the globe. That murder is here too. The big issue is not gun control. Many of the murders have not involved guns. The big issue is not the sensibilities of people who might be offended by what gets said. NO, the big issue is stopping the murder and keeping people alive.
Without a doubt, Obama and Hillary and their media friends are not just on the wrong side of history; they are headed to the trash can of history.
