Less Is Morsi

Mohammed Morsi, the former president of Egypt, was sentenced to 40 years in prison today in an Egyptian court.  It's worth noting that Morsi's Moslem Brotherhood group is now back underground.  The current government views the Brotherhood as illegal.

Morsi was only in power for a few years.  During his time in office, Egypt cooperated with the terrorists of Hamas and was sympathetic to the other Sunni Islamic terror groups.  When Morsi was in power, the USA under president Obama did all it could to maintain friendly relations with Egypt.

Morsi was ousted in a military coup/popular uprising.  He was literally thrown from office by crowds in the streets of Cairo which spurred the military to move.  Since the new president has been in office following the coup and a subsequent election, Egypt has been strongly anti-terrorist.  Support for Hamas has been cut off.  Egypt has denounced ISIS and al Qaeda and other Islamic terror groups.  Meanwhile, Obama has had the USA keep its distance from Egypt.

Given the way Obama treats Egypt, my guess is that if the Egyptians were to send troops to Syria to fight ISIS, Obama would cut diplomatic relations with Egypt or perhaps even seek a declaration of war against the country.
