On Sunday, I wrote about the attempt by the Clinton campaign and its allies in the mainstream media to convince America that Trump was collapsing. Supposedly, everything is going wrong for the Donald. Story after story has appeared on the networks and the press telling us about this, that and the other thing that Trump has done wrong. It was a full court press of the sort that only the American liberal media can pull off; in the past it has destroyed many candidates. The Clintonites and the fellow travelers thought they finally had Trump.
Well it hasn't worked. That was clear on Sunday, but it is even more clear today. Trump had a bad week a few weeks back; that was when the media pile on started. After the Orlando terror attack, the media and the Hillary forces really went to town with their attacks. They even got some foolish Republicans to join in due to panic. But here's the result: Trump has been pulling up in the polls ever since then.
I wrote on Sunday about the Reuters tracking poll that had shown Hillary's lead decline from 12% to just about 8%. Now, a few days later, Hillary's lead is less than 7%. Because this poll is a five day average of results, it changes less rapidly than the day to day numbers, but it is better at showing trends over time. Despite the onslaught from Hillary and her legions in the media, her numbers are sinking and Trump's are rising. They must be wondering in Brooklyn at Clinton headquarters how things could be happening this way.
In addition, today also brought poll results for PA, OH and FL. In Pennsylvania and Ohio, Trump and Clinton are tied. In Florida, Hillary is ahead but it remains close. If Trump really were collapsing (as the media and the pundits keep telling us) these polls would show large leads for Hillary.
One thing is absolutely clear. No matter what the Hillary loving media says, this election is far from over. In fact, given that Hillary has thrown nearly everything she has at Trump and Trump's numbers have risen, it may be time for team Hillary to start to panic.
