I grew up in the Philadelphia area. I was always a big fan of the Phillies. Every year, we had high hopes, but they were normally dashed. Who could forget the Phillies most memorable collapse. In 1964, they were 6 games ahead with 12 to go and still managed not to win. In the years since then, there have been many more collapses and a few season about which to really cheer. It seems we are back to the old ways this year, sadly. The Phillies were in first place for most of the season. Lately, they've fallen on hard times and are now in second place 3 games behind the leader. Maybe history won't repeat itself; maybe they'll come back to win. I doubt it, though.
