Yesterday, a strange thing happened in DC. Okay, so that's not unusual, but this was a really strange thing. President Trump came out of the White House, got into his limo in the motorcade, and was about to go play golf. About a minute later, the President left the car and went back into the White House. Shortly after that the White House told the press that Trump would be staying there all day. There was no explanation of what had happened.
Last night, the President tweeted an admonition to Russia and Iran not to join in an assault by the Assad forces in Syria on the Idlib region. Secretary Pompeo issued a warning against the use of chemical weapons in that assault and reminded Assad that the USA would respond to any such use.
So was it intelligence about an impending chemical attack that brought the President back into the White House? Is there about to be yet another bloody battle in Syria in which the Syrians kill each other in massive numbers? Will the Assad forces once again use chemical weapons despite the warnings of the USA and others? There's no way yet to know. Let's hope that we don't get another of these crazy festivals of death that Assad and the Iranians and ISIS and the rebels in Syria seem so good at organizing.
