Nikki Haley's Curtains

There's another story in the media today that needs a bit of explanation.  UN ambassador Nikki Haley is said to have spent over $50,000 on curtains for her NYC apartment.  Oh, and the rent for the apartment which the government also pays is said to be $58,000 per month.

This is a hit piece from the media.  The apartment is not Nikki Haley's apartment.  It's the official residence of the US ambassador to the UN.  In other words, it's like buying curtains for the embassy in Paris or London.  Haley didn't buy the curtains; the US government is furnishing the new ambassador's residence in New York.  The ambassador used to live in the Waldorf Astoria, but then a Chinese company bought that building and the federal government decided that for security reasons, the ambassador had to move.  During the Obama administration, the feds rented the new apartment and, among other things, made arrangements for the curtains to be installed.  They went into the apartment last year.

In summary, the government moved the official ambassador's residence for security during the Obama administration.  The Obama State Department bought the curtains.  All prices were set by the Obamacrats.  Halley moved into the residence in 2017 and the curtains went in just shortly after she got there.  Haley had nothing to do with the rental price for the apartment or the purchase of expensive curtains.  And the media blames Haley for the whole thing.

Typical, isn't it?
