Politico has a piece out in which it names the eleven states that it says will determine the next president. You can tell it is a product of someone at the Democrat National Committee. That's because for each state on the list Politico tells us what percentage of the vote comes from minorities. Everything is analyzed as if all that matters is demographics. That's both wrong and racist. One cannot assume that because someone is Hispanic, he will vote in a particular way. Nor can one assume that because someone is black, her vote can be a given. Things shift over time and those things include more than just the demography of a state.
For example, what would happen if Donald Trump put Condi Rice on his ticket as VP? Would that change the calculus? All those women who want to support another woman but who find Hillary Clinton to be greedy, dishonest and power-mad might have the excuse they need to vote for real change. Who knows. This race is far from over and things will change over and over between now and November. That much is certain.
We all need to take a step back and just wait. There will be time enough in September and October to analyze the electoral vote. Right now, let's let the campaigns play out.
