Big News from the Middle East

After a year of the Assad regime killing civilians in Syria, it finally happened. Here is the news as reported by ABC:

More than 112 Tomahawk cruise missiles struck over 20 targets ... today in the opening phase of an international military operation the Pentagon said was aimed at stopping attacks....

President Obama, speaking ...shortly after he authorized the missile attacks, said they were part of a "limited military action" to protect the ... people.

"I want the American people to know that the use of force is not our first choice and it's not a choice I make lightly," Obama said. "But we cannot stand idly by when a tyrant tells his people that there will be no mercy."

Of course, what I put forth above is the story about America attacking Libyan targets to stop the Gaddafi regime from killing Libyan civilians. In Libya, the death toll at that point was less than 25% of the number who have already been killed in Syria, but, of course, Obama stands by and watches as the Syrians die.

I strongly believe that Americans want to hear an explanation from president Obama for his policy in Syria. If we needed to get involved in Libya, why not in Syria where the slaughter is many times worse. Why not get involved in Syria which, unlike Libya, is also a major supporter of terrorists around the world? Why not get involved in Syria which is the only arab ally of Iran?

I expect to hear something from the White House in the next few weeks on this subject. Advance word is that Obama is going to say that the fighting in Syria is all the fault of George W. Bush.
