Does Obama Really Believe This Will Work?

President Obama spoke to the press today. He was asked about the economy and had this to say:

The private sector is doing fine. Where we're seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government. Oftentimes cuts initiated by, you know, Governors or mayors who are not getting the kind of help that they have in the past from the federal government and who don't have the same kind of flexibility as the federal government in dealing with fewer revenues coming in.

So let's look at this claim. The last two months have had really bad employment growth; only 77,000 new jobs were created in April and 69,000 in May. Obama says this is due to state and local governments not having sufficient resources. But, during April and May, the change in government employment was a reduction of 10,000 and 13,000 respectively. If those government job losses had not occured, the total of new jobs would have been 87,000 in April and 82,000 in May. Simply put, the numbers would have still be awful even if there were no job reductions in government workers. In other words, Obama is wrong. Sadly, I know that, you know that and even Obama knows that. He is just trying to "spin" the facts, which is a nice way of saying that the president is lying.

When the numbers released by the government prove that the head of the government is lying, there is something wrong. Don't we have the right to expect honesty from the president? Wouldn't it be better for Obama to admit that there is a problem? It is a terrible thing for Obama to lie about the private sector "doing fine". Of course, if Obama actually believes this is true, then he is delusional which would be even worse.

One of the most significant exerpts is "Governors and mayors who---------don't have the same kind of flexibility as the federal government in dealing with fewer revenues coming in."

Yes!! Thank god our cities and states cannot borrow directly from the Chinese!
