There is a new poll today on the Connecticut Senate race. According to Quinipiac, Linda McMahon has a huge lead over Chris Shays for the GOP nomination while Chris Murphy has a similarly huge lead over Susan Bysiewicz for the Democrat nod. None of this is surprising, especially since McMahon has be on TV for at least a month while Shays has been running his campaign on a shoestring. What is fascinating, however, is the head to head match between McMahon and Murphy. The latest poll gives Murphy a three point lead (46-43). This is extraordinary. Remember we are talking about Connecticut. This is a state that has not sent a real Republican to the senate in ages. While such a victory must still be rated a long shot, the fact that it is even possible is unusual.
