Is Walking Backwards the New Olympic Event?

In the last month, there have been so many moments when the Obama campaign has had one speaker or another walk back his or her statements, that I started wondering if they were just trying to train competitors for a new Olympic event, walking backwards. Corey Booker, mayor of Newark, stated that he was nauseated by the attacks on Mitt Romney's career at Bain Capital; that was followed by a series of appearances to walk that remark back. Bill Clinton said we are in a recession and the Bush tax cuts should all be extended again. That was followed by a presidential walk back in which he told us all how he actually supports Obama's position on these issues. Last night, Obama told a dirty joke at a LGBT fundraiser in California and the Politico reported it. This morning, the media is busy walking that one back with the claim that Obama was surprised by what he himself said. Sure.

The truth is that walking backwards does not help. The truth comes out no matter how much the Obama enforcers try to get people to eat their words.
