The NSA gathers phone records from essentially every phone company in America. It knows who you call, how long you speak, where you have been (from the GPS in your cell phone) among other things. The NSA also gathers email, photos, documents, video and other bits of information about you from the internet providers with whom Americans deal. The NSA also gathers credit card information about Americans, so the agency can tell who is spending what and where. And we have been told that the reason why all this information gathering is necessary is to prevent terrorist attacks.
That is why the latest item revealed is so upsetting. Here is how the latest was reported by Investors' Business Daily:
The White House assures that tracking our every phone call and keystroke is to stop terrorists, and yet it won't snoop in mosques, where the terrorists are.
That's right, the government's sweeping surveillance of our most private communications excludes the jihad factories where homegrown terrorists are radicalized.
Since October 2011, mosques have been off-limits to FBI agents. No more surveillance or undercover string operations without high-level approval from a special oversight body at the Justice Department dubbed the Sensitive Operations Review Committee.
We already have the politically correct idiots who insist that eighty year old women and babies must be searched at airport security so as to avoid profiling. We already have the fools who follow every terror attack with repeated statements about how Islam is a "religion of peace". We already have partisans in the Obama administration who are prepared to persecute Americans based upon their political beliefs. These fool, idiots and partisans, however, balk at the prospect of focusing surveillance on the likely locations where that surveillance would do the most good.
Look, obviously most Moslems are not terrorists and do not support those crazies. That does not mean, however, that mosques should be off limits to the FBI or the NSA.
