So What Do You Think?

According to a poll from Rasmussen, Americans believe by a margin of 56% to 30% that the federal government is a threat to individual rights rather than a protector of individual rights.  The fact that there are still 30% of the nation who would view the government protecting individual rights is astounding.  These must be folks who haven't read a newspaper or watch TV news for years.  We have a president who decries the Bill of Rights as a "charter of negative liberties" and the sits back and watches as his administration ignores the basic protections of freedom provided by our system of government.  The Obama KGB (formerly the Department of Justice) secretly pores over the private email, phone records and other confidential material of news organizations.  People and groups are targeted for government harassment on the basis of their political views.  The government under Obama is in full assault mode on individual liberties.

If you happen to read this and you believe that the government protects individual rights, please leave a comment to explain why you think that.  Maybe I have missed something.  I don't think so, but let's see if there is anyone who can make a coherent case for that point.
