Today's Obama Selections: One Liar and One Hater

In what the media calls a "shakeup", president Obama has named Susan Rice as National Security Advisor and Samantha Power as Ambassador to the United Nations.  It is hard to imagine worse choices.

Susan Rice will now be involved deeply in the defense of the country.  She will be a major consumer of intelligence and will help determine what, if anything, is done with America's power.  This is the same Susan Rice who went on five Sunday news shows last September to announce that the Benghazi attacks arose spontaneously from anger over a youtube video.  That position, of course, was completely false and the administration knew that when Rice was out there on TV misleading America.  Think about that.  There are only two choices.  a) Rice intentionally went on TV and repeatedly lied to the American people; or b) Rice was fooled with the phony reports into believing a totally phony story.  She is either an accomplished liar or a credulous fool with no sense of when she is being fed nonsense.  That does not sound like the person one wants to see advising the president of the United States on security.

Samantha Power is another story.  She will be America's first overtly anti-Israeli UN ambassador.  It was not all that long ago that Power was advocating the use of America's military to "create" a Palestinian state.  In essence, Power wanted the USA to send its troops to force the Israelis out of some (or all) of Palestine in order to create a state for the Palestinians.  Indeed, Power's position is so antithetical to the views of the American people that she was dropped from the Obama campaign last year in order to remove her and her anti-semitic views as a possible embarrassment during the re-election.  While she should fit right in with the rest of the creeps at the UN, she should not be there speaking in the name of America.

These two appointments show that Obama is unfazed by the scandals of the moment.  He is not moving away from them in an effort to short up his position.  To use the current "in" word, Obama is doubling down on disaster.
