The Next Lie From Obama

The lies are flying fast and furious from president Obama today.  Here is the latest:

In California, Obama announced that all members of Congress were briefed on the NSA surveillance programs that have just been made public.  In other words, it is no big deal; everyone knew in the government.

Let's put aside for the moment whether or not having Congress know about a program somehow makes it okay, the actual truth is that Congress was not briefed.  Amazingly, the source that made clear that Obama was lying on this is Democrat Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon who spoke immediately after Obama made his false claim.  Senator Merkley said that he learned of the phone intercepts only after he specifically asked about programs of this sort.  Only a few members of the Intelligence Committee had been told, and Merkley was not one of them.  Indeed, Merkley was only told that certain phone information was being obtained but was not given details.  To top all this off, the PRISM program, the government's efforts to obtain email, documents, photos, video, etc. from internet providers was never, NEVER disclosed to Merkley.

When Democrats are rushing to call Obama a liar as soon as he finishes telling one of his whoppers, you know that Obama is in deep doo doo.
