There was another hearing today in congress on the IRS scandal. This one was different because rather than witnesses from the IRS who claimed difficulty remembering their middle names, we had representatives of the actual victims of the IRS abuse. Conservative groups who were prevented from receiving deserved tax exemptions, groups who confidential tax materials were illegally given by the IRS to opposition groups and groups whose members were targeted by the IRS testified. In each case, the only reason that the IRS acted against these groups was because of the political positions taken by them.
Each time we hear the details, they seem worse. Think of it. This is America, but in Obama's America we have the full force of the federal government brought down on people just because of their politics. Today's witnesses were well spoken, but some of them clearly were ordinary people who expressed their own ideas and were then set upon by IRS goon squads. A few Democrat congressmen actually attacked the witnesses and their groups claiming that the harassment only resulted because the groups filed with the IRS in the first place. It sounded a lot like those Southern Democrats of old who said that the only reason that Freedom Riders were beaten is because they dared to protest in the first place. It was crap in the 1950s and it is crap now.
We are seeing more and more proof that the constant conduct of the Obama administration is to try to shred the Constitution. Freedom of the Press? That was ripped to pieces when the Department of Justice ignored its own rules to secretly search the phone records of the AP. It was shredded again when DOJ, by its own admission, misled a federal court so that the government could get into the email, phone records and other items of Fox Reporter James Rosen and his parents and his boss and many others at Fox News.
How about freedom of religion? All you need to know is that the Obama IRS was unleashed on the Billy Graham Ministry for no reason other than the views of that ministry.
The liberal statists want government in control. They do not care whether they achieve that goal legally or not. Indeed, they know that their actions were criminal. If there is any doubt of this, ask Lois Lerner. Of course, Lerner will refuse to answer on the ground that it might incriminate her.
Someone has to clean house in Washington. Someone has to cut the IRS back down to manageable size. Someone has to end the reign of terror by the Obamacrats. We have had enough of the Chicago Way. President Obama and the Obamacrats have got to go!
