I'm chuckling while I watch the crazed loons of the left go ballistic because former senator Joe Lieberman said that he hopes that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doesn't represent the future of the Democrat party. If you are on Twitter, you can see a major string of abuse leveled at Lieberman and how he really isn't a Democrat or how no one knows who he is. It's coming from a bunch of people but most that I see are some sort of journalist attached to the mainstream media. Some of the tweets are really vicious.
It's pretty clear that nothing unifies the Democrats these days. They have only one policy which is to defeat President Trump. Nothing else seems to matter. Think about it. What is the party's position on running the economy? Do they want to raise taxes? Do they want to change regulations? No one knows for sure since there is no unanimity or even many proposals from Democrats. And how about foreign policy? Other than criticizing what Trump does, what do the Dems propose? I guess if they have a proposal, it is a secret since they never tell us about it. Then there's campaign finance. The Dems always talk about taking money (especially big money) out of politics, but they raise huge amounts from big contributors. Indeed, they get much more of their money in that way than the Republicans do.
The fight between Lieberman and AOC is hardly the only one among Dems these days. Just today, Elizabeth Warren called upon all Dem candidates for president in 2020 to agree that they would take no contributions from PACs or big donors or even from self-funding. It's a silly position, but it will soon be followed by attacks by Warren on all the other candidates who still accept such contributions. The fight for the presidential nomination isn't going to be fought out on policy differences; there just aren't enough differences to do that. The Dems are going to fight on personality, character, and fealty to the anti-Trump core belief of the party. In other words, this is going to be a really nasty, dirty fight. That should make for some enjoyable watching.
