The New York Times is out with another of their big articles on President Trump. This time, the story is that after the meeting between Trump and Putin in Helsinki, Trump took the notes of the interpreter and told that person not to speak about the content of the meeting even to White House employees. The Times argues implicitly that the President was trying to hide what he said to Putin because there was some nefarious purpose to the meeting. The rest of the mainstream media has picked up the story and that storyline. I just heard CBS ask what the President was trying to hide. In other words, it's another bogus BS story from the mainstream media.
Think about it. Trump met alone with Putin. Just the two of them and their translators. Obviously, the President didn't want to have the subject of the meeting spread across the media. He didn't want any leaks. From what happened in the months after that meeting, it seems pretty clear that Trump and Putin mainly discussed how the two countries would go forward with regard to Syria. Neither Trump not Putin would want their friends or opponents in Syria to know the full details of what was agreed. It is hard enough to bring order out of that chaos; neither one needed to have other countries pushing back against any agreement they reached. Since there were non-stop leaks from our government (whether from the White House, the CIA or other agencies), Trump took steps to keep the meeting confidential. That's a good thing, not a bad thing. Only in the bizarre minds of the media is this some sort of plot by Trump. Actually, it was just Trump managing the situation to keep this confidential.
