There are a few interesting stories that deserve mention today.
1. The mainstream media was reporting yesterday and today that there have been three deaths in the National Parks and then they attempted to blame these deaths on the partial government shutdown. Really. It's crazy to think that this is actually a story getting coverage. I don't mean the part where these people were killed. I mean the part that attempts to tie the deaths to the shutdown. One person was killed when a tree collapsed and fell on him. Are we to believe that had the government not been shut down, a park ranger would have swooped in and caught the tree before it hit the victim? One person died after slipping and falling into a rain swollen river. What would government funding have to do with that? The whole story is ridiculous.
2. In the Senate today, the Democrats blocked consideration of the Middle East Security legislation. That bill principally renews the US security pact with Jordan, bars government compliance with the BDS movement that attacks Israel and provides for certain military agreements with Israel. According to sources in DC, the Democrats blocked the consideration of the bill because a number od Democrat senators now want to support the BDS movement and the leadership did not want this fact made public. After all, it would be hard for the Dems to continue to accuse the President of anti-Semitism when a chunk of the Dems now want to support a group that is attacking Israel.
3. According to a briefing by VP Pence today, at the negotiations over the weekend, the Democrats agreed that there is a crisis at the southern border but refused to negotiate a resolution until after the government was fully funded and open. That's amazing! There's a crisis, but the Dems refuse to deal with it.
