It's a strange thing. Over the last two years, the Democrats and many on the far left have accused President Trump of being anti-Semitic. It's a particularly weird charge since those making it never offer any evidence of anti-Semitism on the part of the President. It's even more weird since the President's daughter Ivanka converted to Judaism when she married Jared Kushner and their children (the President's grandchildren) are also Jewish. On top of that, you have Trump standing strongly with Israel and even moving the US embassy to Jerusalem. In other words, charges that Trump is anti-Semitic are totally bogus.
On the other hand, it is becoming more and more clear that many Democrats have moved towards embracing anti-Semitism. Just the other day, the Democrats blocked a vote in the Senate on a bill that would have taken action against the BDS movement. BDS is an anti-Israel movement that seeks to use economic means to destroy Israel. The bill, among other things, allows the federal government to require federal contractors to certify that they are not taking part in any action which is part of the BDS movement. The Democrats blocked the bill because a sizeable number of Democrat senators wanted to vote against it and the party leadership did not want to illustrate just how many Democrats accept the anti-Semitic activities of BDS.
When the same subject was being considered in the House, the new Democrat start Rashida Tlaib tweeted that many members who support the bill seem to forget which country they represent. That's a repetition of the old anti-Semitic charge of dual loyalty against Jews. Tlaib's tweet got roundly condemned, but not by her fellow Democrats.
There are other statements by Democrats and leftists that are strongly anti-Semitic. Just think of the Women's March organization which had a majority of its principal organizers stating their support for Louis Farrakhan who constantly denounces Jews (recently, he called them termites.) Despite some people protesting this stance by the organization, nothing was done about this.
The weirdest thing of all is that despite the growing anti-Semitism of the Democrats, most Jews in the US remain strong Democrats. My guess is that someday soon, they will wake up, but it remains to be seen if that actually happens.
