That Didn't Take Long

After last night's speeches by President Trump and the scowling Democrat cadavers (Pelosi and Schumer), I heard someone who is often reasonable tell me that he thought most people would conclude that the best approach towards a resolution would be to fund the government without the wall and then to negotiate about the wall afterwards.  I told this fellow that I thought he was misreading the situation.  Anyone could see that the Democrats would never, NEVER agree to anything that would improve border security, especially a wall.  They had, after all, called the wall "immoral", not just a bad idea.

Today, there was a meeting at the White House which pretty much resolves this argument.  Trump had Congressional leaders in the Oval Office to try to negotiate some sort of deal.  The President Asked the Democrats what would happen if he agreed to fund the government and negotiate the wall and border security after that.  Would the Democrats agree to some sort of a wall at that point?  Pelosi immediately said that the Democrats would NEVER agree to a wall.  On that statement, Trump said that if that was the Democrats' position, there really was no point in having further discussions; he ended the meeting.

In other words, last night Pelosi and Schumer told the nation that they wanted the government funded and then they would negotiate about the wall.  Today, they told the President they want the government funded and then they would NOT negotiate about the wall.  They revealed that their speeches last night were just lies told for public consumption.  Not only did Pelosi and Schumer look like the evil death when they spoke last night; they weren't even honest in what they said.

My prediction is that we will very soon see a declaration of a national emergency and the construction of the wall using Pentagon monies.
