It's truly hard to imagine that things could get worse for Virginia's Democrats, but the did just that today. In addition to the governor who admits to wearing blackface and who admitted and then denied posing for and putting a picture in his med school yearbook of two people, one in blackface and the other in KKK robes, there is the lieutenant governor who has been credibly accused of sexual assault by a Stamford professor who says she was attacked in 2004. I won't rehash the old details, but today we got more:
1. The Attorney General of the state, another Democrat who would become governor if both the current governor and the lieutenant governor had to resign admitted that a few decades ago, he too appeared in blackface. He says he only did it once, but really does that matter? Is there some requirement for attaining office as a Democrat in Virginia that you must either be an accused racist or sexual predator? It certainly seems so.
2. NBC News reported that the lieutenant governor upon hearing that a woman had accused him of sexual assault said of her, "F**k that bitch." The chief of staff for the lieutenant gov denies this, but NBC says it has two sources who corroborate its report.
What will we learn tomorrow? Is some other high ranking Virginia Democrat going to arrested by the FBI as a Chinese spy? Nothing would surprise me at this point.
