The media is still promoting the Ferguson story. This morning, I heard Michael Brown's mother on the radio on CBS News describing how her son was murdered in cold blood by the police. She then complained that her son's body was left where he fell in the street for four hours before it was removed, so they could not even donate his organs.
I do not criticize the mother for what she said; she lost her son. CBS, however, should know better. First of all, we now know that the grand jury has decided that Brown was not murdered in cold blood. Repeating the charge days after it was rejected only inflames the situation. More important, however, CBS surely knows that because there were charges of wrongdoing, the investigators had to carefully examine and document the site of the shooting before they could move the body. Just imagine what would be said if Brown's body had been rushed away before a full investigation had been done. And about that organ donation? There were three separate autopsies performed on the body over the next week. That means that the organs could not be donated; they had to be there for the autopsy. So why add this as another supposed "outrage" committed by the police?
CBS constantly runs ads which announce "CBS cares", but the truth is that all that CBS cares about is ratings.
