The American Equivalent of ISIS

ISIS is a menace to the civilized world.  As a group, ISIS members are certain that they alone know the "truth" and they view their adversaries as less than human.  ISIS does not care at all about what others think of them or about what others do; they are certain they are right.  Indeed, the goal of ISIS is not just to establish their beliefs worldwide, but to eradicate those who disagree.  To this end, ISIS uses all manner of outrageous tactics from beheading opponents to strike fear into the adversaries of ISIS to selling women and girls into slavery so that the communities of non-believers cannot be reconstituted in the future.

I started thinking this morning about the similarities between ISIS and president Obama.  I know that half of you just groaned after reading that sentence, but consider the similarities.  Last week Obama was roundly rejected by the American voters.  His policies were on the ballot by his own admission, and they were defeated big time in the election.  So did Obama care about what the voters think of him and his policies?  The clear answer is NO.  After the election day, we got all manner of the usual statements from both Democrats and Republicans about working together to govern the country.  Obama, however, announced that he would imminently act illegally to change the immigration laws, perhaps the most hot button issue available at the moment.  In one move, Obama wiped away the chance of cooperation and moved straight to confrontation.  In short, Obama is doing exactly what the American voters rejected.  That was followed by all the Gruber video in which the architect of Obamacare admits that the administration purposefully lied to the American people in order to gain the passage of the bill.  Gruber, in arrogant fashion, makes clear that Obama and his people think that they alone know the right path to follow; the American voters are too "stupid" (Gruber's word) to understand what needs to be done.  Now I know that telling lies is not the same as murder or selling someone into slavery, but in the American political system, those acts are not altogether dissimilar.

What are we going to do for the next two years?  Obama wants the battles to continue.  He wants the country to be paralyzed as he continues his ideological battle that the voters rejected.  It will be interesting to see if the Democrats go along with this or if they start to abandon Obama.  If a few Democrat senators and Congressmen start voting against Obama, the dam will break.  Obama will become the weakest president in modern times.  If the Democrats stick with Obama, they may well be dooming themselves to minority status for the foreseeable future.
