The protect the president move by much of the liberal mainstream media is breathtaking in its stupidity and it just keeps getting worse. Today's best example come from Vox, that new site that was set up by Ezra Klein when the Washington Post refused to give him his own site. Klein left in a huff because the Post did not recognize his own perceived brilliance. Now he has all manner of uber-liberals writing at the site. Today's "reporter" is Max Fisher. He writes about the controversy that followed Obama's speech to the National Prayer Breakfast in which he said that we need to "get off our high horse" because there was a lot of evil done in the name of Christianity (like the Crusades and the Inquisition). Fisher says that the awful thing here is not that Obama said what he said, but rather that there has been such a strong reaction against it. According to Fisher, the reaction is actually from people who want to blame all Moslems for terrorism and to conduct a war against Islam rather than fighting terrorism.
As usual, the Obama supporting forces have resorted to creating a straw man. Essentially none of those who responded to Obama's speech called for a war against Islam. It is indeed safe to say that there is not a single responsible voice in either party who blames Islam for terrorism or who calls for fighting all of the adherents of that religion. The question is a different one. Can we, as Americans, recognize that the terrorist movements that we fight are Islamic? They call themselves Islamic. They follow Islamic customs. They apply sharia law as they understand it. Must we pretend, as Obama does, that there is no connection between ISIS and Islam? It's crazy.
Nevertheless, libs like Max Fisher resort to their usual method of attack. Those who disagree with Obama are racist. This time, those who want to recognize the nature of those who were are fighting are somehow seeking to subjugate and destroy all Moslems. (But that's not true.)
I'm tired of the liberal idea that recognizing reality is racist. What the libs have managed to do in six years of Obama's presidency is to change racism from a serious problem into the punch line for their idiotic attack pieces. No one cares that much about being called racist anymore, because so many have now been classified as racist for doing nothing more than accepting the facts placed before them. Obama and his lackeys in the media may want to live in a fantasy land where opposition disappears once the word "racist" is used. That land does not exist, however. It is like the racism about which they complain: something that they have made up in their imaginations.
